It may come as a surprise but men do yoga too! And the number of men going to classes is on the up as they are coming round to the idea of yoga as a way to attain suppleness, flexibility, balance and strength.
Clearly the benefits of yoga are increasingly recognised by everyone including top professional sports people such as Andy Murry and Novak Djokovic who both turned to yoga as part of their mental and physical training to achieve peak performance. If such elite athletes can attribute some of their success to yoga – just think what it can do for the average bloke.
My style of yoga is more dynamic than many yoga classes with a focus on lots of varied postures to work every part of the body – and not a chant to be heard! Feedback tells me that this more physical approach to yoga makes it more accessible and appealing to men.
